The Cheapest Android Cell Phone Plan
With technological advancements, innovations increase exponentially. As a result new cell phone service providers are entering the markets. I have been using smart phones for the last 3 years and they come with many convenient features. The tariff comparison of different smart phones reveals that VOIP is the cheapest but they currently have poor service. I live in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and VOIP (voice over internet protocol) is still not available here because the leading telecom companies like Etisalat and DU do not have licenses with other VOIP companies. With the introduction of smart phones by various cellular service providers, call rates have become cheaper than ever before by the use of VOIP services.
The apple iPhone has become one of the most popular phones in the UAE, as it provides its VOIP users with endless applications. One of the more popular applications is Skype, which can be used for land line calls, video, and instant messaging. Other VOIP services like Fringe are also becoming very popular with consumers. People have also been using VOIP through Yahoo! and Windows Live Messenger. With this fast growing trend, the UAE telecommunication authority (TRA) has announced that soon all VOIP services would become regulated in the UAE.
Android based devices are also becoming very popular, creating tough competition for the Apple iPhone. With the recent launch of Google’s Android phone, there is renewed rivalry between VOIP service providers. One of the leading cellular companies, HTC has introduced android based phones with pre-installed VOIP applications and people are generously buying these devices with lots of enthusiasm.
Currently the cheapest Android phone plan is provided by DU, but it is encountering problems. Yet the company is giving tough competition to its rival company Etisalat. Moreover, Android based devices are comparatively cheaper than most of the Nokia smart phone and the Apple iPhone thus creating a good niche for android market in this part of the world.
I have some friends in USA who have informed me that in the USA, the cheapest android plan is provided by Verizon which is around 39$ per month. Packages usually include benefits like free text messaging and free long distance calls. Two months ago I was in UK and I saw some good Android based devices like Samsung Galaxy and the HTC Hero with good call rates and cheaper plans.
Here in the UAE, I have mostly been using Skype for VOIP and have occasionally used Fringe for long distance calls. The call rates of these services are much cheaper when compared to local telecom companies. Making calls to family and friends in different countries has become much cheaper than local telecom companies.
Recently, a friend of mine informed me of a new VOIP company known as Jet calls. It is becoming quite popular among the majority working class community in India and Pakistan. These people often find ways to bypass local telecom companies in order to call their loved ones and gossip about the latest buzz at cheaper call rates. The Google’s Android is planning to launch a much cheaper plan.
