How to Get Your Free Cell Phone Along With Free Minutes and Coverage
You can get yourself a free cell phone along with free minutes and coverage as well. SafeLink Wireless is the government program that offers free cell phones along with the cell service along with the free minutes for the people that are qualified from their income and currently receive government services like that of food stamps, HUD, public assistance or other.
The Lifeline Assistance Program and SafeLink Wireless
The Lifeline Assistance program is part of the government program which was created in order to provide either free or discounted cell phone service to those that qualify with their income. In order to make this a free service and make it available to those income eligible consumers the Lifeline Service is offered through SafeLink Wireless.
It is through this service that you’re able to get your free cell service, your free cell phone and your free cell minutes each and every month. The SafeLink service is something that doesn’t cost you a single dime and there aren’t any contracts, there are no fees and there are no monthly charges.
Rollover Minutes
Any of the minutes that you don’t use during the month will rollover to the next month. The other features that you’d want from a regular cell phone service can be found with this as well. Like the:
• Caller ID
• Call waiting
• Voicemail
• More
If you should need any additional minutes you’re able to purchase some additional airtime cards through TracFone. You can do this through any retailer that sells the TracFone product. Some of these would be the Family Dollar stores as well as Wal-Marts and Walgreens. Although SafeLink airtime cards aren’t currently available they hope to be making them available soon.
Participation
You’re not able to participate in this Lifeline if you are currently participating in Lifeline through another long distance carrier. To participate you simply need to go to the SafeLink Wireless website. All you need to do is simply enter in your zip code and then click the “Go” button in order to begin the signup process.
Application Process
When you get to the next page all you have to do now is click on the tab “Apply”.
Contact and Personal Information
Next you just simply need to fill out all of your contact information, your SSN, put in your street address and there are no PO boxes accepted. After that you just simply need to click on “Continue” in order to proceed.
Identifying Information
After that you need to enter in all of your identifying information and click “Submit”. You need to be prepared to submit your proof of current government assistance. This would include things like:
• Food stamps
• Public assistance
• HUD
• More
You will have to give your SSN. There is no reason for concern as there site is secured and it’s verified through Equifax. If you desire more information when it comes to security you simply need to go to the bottom of the screen and then click on the icon that looks like the padlock in order to get more information about the security on the site. If you still don’t want to put your information online you can simply enroll through calling 800/977-3768. If you qualify you simply need to wait for your phone after you’ve completed all of the enrollment steps.
