What Google Buzz Means for Mobile
With Google rolling out Google Buzz in the first quarter of the year Google made the announcement that everyone was anticipating with the smartphone craze of Google incorporating Buzz into a mobile interface. Google Buzz is the social networking equivalent to let people know what the “buzz” is through Google’s popular email giant Gmail.
Everyone was excited on what Google Buzz is able to do with your computer desktop but what’s really going to be exciting is what you’re going to be able to do with Buzz in your pocket with your mobile phone.
Optimized Sites – Android and iPhone
If you go to the following website on your Android or your iPhone you’ll get to an optimized interface for both using and linking with Google Buzz.
After you’ve done that you’re going to be asked to logon to your Gmail/Google account and if you happen to already be logged in you’re going to be automatically directed to the Buzz main screen. From this you’ll be able to see the entire Buzz from the people you’re following and from other nearby locations as well as find others and view your own postings.
The mobile web interface is something that fits in perfect with the Gmail optimized web pages that the iPhone user is already accustomed to using. The only difference is that Buzz will just be a new tab within the already existing interface.
Sharing With Your Friends
You are able to view the buzz of your followers within a real time stream. If you’re familiar with Friend Feed the concept is pretty much the same in the fact that every status update can become a separate conversation. You’re also able to both share and view photos with Buzz.
The Buzz about Location
One extremely compelling aspect of the Google Buzz is the integration of it and Google Latitude. Through the use of either a Wi-Fi connection or the GPS of your phone Buzz can either show your location or nearby locations and then you’re able to send an update and attach yourself to the location.
There is a nearby tab which is nice since it will show you the information from the public streams on things that are going on near your location. If you’re new to a city or simply wanting to find out about what’s going on near you this is something that will work amazingly.
Concluding
Just like the Buzz product in general the Buzz Mobile is still greatly in its infancy of the development. Although the web application is something that is very well designed it still doesn’t let you actively manage any connections or accounts. There is very much some limitation but for the time being what is there to do is fun and based on the type of access that your followers or you have been given.
Knowing Google though there is very much more to come and as Buzz grows within Gmail the mobile options are going to become better-rounded. There isn’t much substance but there is a lot of potential.
