Top 9 Coolest Android Apps

Google has successfully achieved what it wanted to do with Android – create an open source platform which will enable developers across the world to develop killer applications. On the flip side, consumers are bombarded with so many applications to add to their T-Mobile G1, Samsung Moment or HTC Hero that it has become extremely difficult to choose best ones.

Though the list is ever increasing, these are the ones you should definitively check out:

Enkin – This navigation app combines GPS, orientation sensors, 3D graphics and live videos to guide you through the maze of cities. Just start the video camera on your phone and see the screen come alive with virtual signposts.

BioWallett – Want to turn your phone into data vault? BioWallet security software turns your Android phone” camera into a Sci-Fi-esque iris scanner, enabling you to store sensitive information discreetly.

Locale – Tired of changing profiles every time you go from home to the office? Locale takes care of this by automatically changing the user profiles based on GPS feeds and user inputs.

KeyRing – Wallet full of membership cards? Simply scan all the membership card barcodes (using your camera). Next time the checkout person asks you if you have a membership card, just whip out your phone and scan it.

Teradesk e-Storage – Is your phone bogged down with too much data? Teradesk e-Storage lets you transfer contacts, music, videos and other data  to a secure location. Google Docs also integrate seamlessly in this application.

Astrid -Tired of those virtual sticky notes? Try Astrid, a todo list application with a built in alarm system. Simple interface adds to the utility of this application.

Pandora – If you don’t know what Pandora is yet, check it out now. Pandora is (or will be) your favorite radio station playing only the songs you like based on your feedback. And now it’s on Android.

Meridian – Though some Android phones still lack killer video playback capabilities, Meridian bridges this gap by supporting most audio and video formats. Interface is boring, but gets the job done well.

Twidroid – Addicted to tweeting? Twidroid provides almost every Tweeter functionality on the move. Available in basic (free) and pro (paid) versions.
