Install and Manage Your Applications in the Android Marketplace

The Marketplace

The Android Marketplace is not only the largest but is also the most diverse in terms of application selection for your Android phone. The Android marketplace offers to you a protected and safe paying practice for your application selections through the Google

Checkout system.

To get to the Android Marketplace all you have to do is simply press the Marketplace shortcut that is on your main screen. Once you’re loading the Marketplace you’re going to see the page that showcases all of the feature apps. You’re going to locate a tab that is labeled Applications, another marked Games at the very top of the display as well as other possible options dependent on your specific carrier.
Through pressing of the Applications section you’ll get a full menu of all of the sections that there are to choose from. You’ll be able to browse and sort through all of these options. When you’ve entered into any one category you’ll be able to see of all of the programs that are in that specific category including the ones that have the most popularity. The separation is done by whether or not you must pay for the application or if it is free. You’re also able to use the search option which allows you to search for specific applications through using a name or keywords.

Downloading an Application

When you’re ready to get an application simply press Install. The system is going to alert you of the functions that the program can access. As you’ll quickly find out this is something that is typical and is most characteristically no reason for panic. The majority of the applications in the Marketplace are completely safe. You just need to be sure that you look over the application ratings and the comments so you can ascertain its reputation. Merely employ your best judgment.
Free application downloads are going to start immediately when you press ok. In regards to the paid applications you’ll initially be taken to Google. You’ll have to enter your payment details only the first time as they’ll be stored in for future application transactions.
Once your application has finished downloading and is installed the message will pop up in the notification panel. The application is then going to appear automatically as an icon on your phones application launcher.

Application Updates

Most of the applications receive updates on a regular basis from their developers. There are notifications provided through the Android Marketplace if there are any updates available for the programs that you have installed. You’ll find these in the Marketplace icon and it will have the message of Updates Available within the notification panel.
The only thing you’ll have to do at that point is follow the prompts in order to download and get your update installed. If this was a paid application you don’t have to worry about paying for it again. All of the updates are free. You only pay for any one application once.
You also can manually check for updates through pressing the Menu key when you’re in the Android Marketplace and then selecting Downloads. Any application that has an update available will appear at the top of the list through a brightly colored label.

Uninstalling Applications

If you want to uninstall any application just got back to the Android marketplace and then access the Downloads menu talked about above. Press any application that is in your list and you’ll then be presented with the option to uninstall that application. The Android Marketplace will actually give you a refund on any application that you’ve paid for and also have uninstalled within the first 24 hours. The only exception to this is if you’ve previously installed and uninstalled that very same application before.
Finally you have a built-in application manager as well. Simply press the Menu key on the main screen and then you’ll select the following:
•    Settings
•    Applications
•    Manage applications
After that you’re going to find a list of the programs that are installed on your phone. Through pressing an application you’ll get the detailed information about the resources it is using and it will give you the additional option to uninstall it.
