Android 2.2 Could Include Built-In Tethering and Wi-Fi Hotspot Sharing
It has been reported that Froyo, which is the next adaptation of the Android smartphone line OS is anticipated to be released at the Google IO conference scheduled for next week. This is going to pack in much more than just big improvement in the compiling speed along with fixes in the fragmentation.
It’s likely that the improvements and changes are going to include some built-in Wi-Fi and USB tethering that will turn your phone into a mobile hot spot. This would allow all of those around you to share with your mobile data connection in order to connect to the internet.
The one thing can be sure that it doesn’t seem like every carrier is going to be very excited about that happening and the other thing important to note is that with this information coming from Techcrunch making a baseball analogy in terms of Google scoops, they’re batting 1.000. Add to their accuracy the fact that there are actually very believable screenshots as well, though we do admit that it’s of course possible to doctor them. Add to that both the USB tethering along with the Wi-Fi connection sharing have been available, albeit unofficially, in Android builds for awhile.
For now we can only wait, stay tuned.
