Free Kindle Application for Blackberries Released By Amazon

(Thursday, February 18th, 2010) Today Amazon announced the launch of a brand new application for its immensely popular Kindle reading application.
The launch is going to be a free Kindle application that’s going to allow customers to have access to 420,000 plus books through a wide range of BlackBerry devices. It will deliver auto sync with the library of the standard Kindle books.
The new application, deftly named Kindle for Blackberry is going to allow any customer that has a Blackberry device on many United States carriers to have easy wireless access to the Kindle books and the majority of those are actually going to be just $9.99 or less.
Included carriers are:
AT&T
Sprint
Verizon
T-Mobile
• Others
Ian Freed, the Vice President of Amazon Kindle stated that “Since the launch of our popular Kindle for iPhone app last year, customers have been asking us to bring a similar experience to the Blackberry.”
Through the use of this application you don’t actually have to have a Kindle. You can get a free email sent to your phone through Amazon or you can simply type “amazon.com/kindlebb” into your Blackberry’s browser in order to download.
If you already have a Kindle you can use Whispersync in order to access your entire Kindle library, books, marks and more.
Amazon has been under an immense amount of pressure and scrutiny from publishers for the low prices it is charging for e-books in order to create more demand and buzz for the Kindle reader. Along with that Amazon, the current world’s largest online retailer, has been trying to keep things moving in order to fend off new rivals that are coming into the batter for e-book supremacy by coming out with their own devices. One of the most noteworthy rivals is that of Apple, Inc.
Regardless of the ensuing battles end outcome it means both new and better products for the consumer and lower prices like with the announcement of the Kindle for Blackberry today. It’s definitely an exciting time to be a consumer.
