Five Killer BlackBerry Apps for Productivity Wizards
The BlackBerry has long been the preferred weapon of choice wielded by professionals looking to knock out their daily tasks, responsibilities and followups with precision and efficiency. Aside from the messaging, email and calendar chops that are inherent to all BlackBerry phones out of the box, there are quite a few third party apps that help you rock the productivity. These apps are all under $10 – but if time is money, then they are worth a million bucks on ROI. Check ‘em out.
NotNow
Price: $5.95
Publisher: Toysoft, Inc.
NotNow let’s you deflect calls from VIPs without making it seem like you’re snubbing them (after all, we all know that you always have your phone on you). When you ignore an incoming call, NotNow pops up with a few preset text messages to automatically respond with such as “Call you ASAP” or “In meeting, call soon.” You can also go into Do Not Disturb mode, which automatically shoots back a pre-determined SMS for all calls without prompting you.
CallNotes
Price:$9.95
Publisher: Toysoft, Inc.
CallNotes keeps forward movement well-oiled and automatic by popping up with a prompt to jot down some notes, schedule a followup on your calendar or enter a new task after each call. You can also set it up to only activate for certain lengths of calls (i.e. longer than 2 minutes) so you don’t get asked to take notes for simple stuff like ordering a pizza or deflecting a telemarketer.
Adorno! MultiAlarm Pro
Price: $8.49
Publisher: Adorno
Adorno! MultiAlarm Pro is the quintessential reminder/alarm app. It let’s you schedule numerous alarms and reminders for the entire week so you’ll never forget to set out the recycling, take your pill or sign-on to that weekly conference call. A perfect sidekick for those of us who easily “get in the zone” and would end up working on an intense project until sunrise if it weren’t for interruptions.
MessageScheduler
Price: $8.95
Publisher: Zaventh Ventures LLC
This handy app adds a feature conspicuously absent from the stock BlackBerry functionality: the ability to compose text and automatically send them at a later time or date. MessageScheduler is particularly impressive for how seamlessly it integrates into the OS, making it seem like a default feature. Use it to send notes to yourself or call for a pickup at a designated time.
vlingo
Price: Free
Publisher: vlingo
The ultimate in hands-free producitvity, vlingo lets you call up BlackBerry phone functions, compose and dictate texts and emails all by voice. Simply say, “email Jim, subject status report” and vlingo pulls up a new email with Jim’s contact info already filled in. Dictate your message and send it, all without getting your thumbs involved.
These apps work with all recent BlackBerry phones, including the BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Storm.
